Newsflash: Sanctions on wood and wood products from Russia, Belarus and the military occupied territories of Ukraine

The competent authorities of the Member States and the European Commission decided that wood and wood products originating from Russia, Belarus and the militarily occupied territories of Ukraine can no longer be released for free circulation in the Union if the "due diligence system" was not fully completed by May 6, 2022.

The goods, selected for inspection at the time of "free circulation", are currently blocked by customs. This blockade lasts until a decision is made by the competent authority: the Federal Public Service Health, Food Chain Safety and Environment - DG Environment. If the competent authority establishes an infringement, a report is drawn up and forwarded to the customs authorities and the Public Prosecutor's Office.
